I'm Going to the "Shore!"

Isn't that what they call the beach on the east coast? Jean just booked us this vacation rental in North Carolina...somewhere called Hatteras Island-Rodanthe? The house is named "Catch a Wave" which reminds me of that chapter in Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim.

We're going to be there for nine days in March. This will be the first time I will have spent more than a 3 consecutive days in the east. I guess I'll need to stock up on madras, polo shirts and those bracelets made of rope? I'd love some tips and hints from east coasters!

I think that is only the Jersey Shore. I think this is still the beach. Maybe the Banks? I dunno. But I am excited!!

First let me thank you for the comment you left me yesterday I appreciate it!

And second, you will love the Outerbanks. My best friend is in real estate there and lives in Duck, NC. If you head up (or is it down?) to Duck (which is past Nags Head) there is a GREAT J.Crew outlet called Barrie Station. March is a great time to hit that store because they will have new stock and it is pre-season. While you are at Barrie also hit the Lilly store and have lunch at Blue Point and then you can spa at Sanderling Inn!

In North Carolina, its the beach. My advice is to just relax and take in as much southern hospitality as you can. There won't be much to do out on the island and it is hours away from anything halfway exciting even though it may look like its close on the a map, but bring some good books. All of Nicholas Sparks' books are set in the outer banks, so those are always good for hammock reading; especially "Nights in Rodanthe." I'm so jealous I could cry.
