Wedding Wednesday: Engagement Photos

Rob and I are doing our engagement photo shoot on the 26th. I think I want to get a little more dressed up than the traditional sweater and jeans recipe. Maybe a cute dress for me, slacks and shirt for Rob? And some sort of prop...A vintage suitcase to go along with our honeymoon road trip?

And you know what I will not be doing? I will not be getting soaking wet in the ocean a la Deborah Kerr...crazy people!

Well.. personally I would rather be invited to the wedding than the honeymoon anyway. This is a bit over the top for Victorian me. :)

Engagement photos are a must! We put several of our engagement photos in our guest book so that our guests could see the pictures and we have something nice to look back. - Avalon

The engagement pictures on that site you linked blew my mind. They varied widely between cute/unique to slightly sleazy!

So fun! May I ask who is taking your photos? You'll have to tell us afterwards what locations you used.

The only downside to a dress/skirt is that it can make it a bit harder to pose sitting on the ground or whatever. But as long as you don't need to roll around in the surf you should be fine. That picture was gross. Hee!

I am all for engagement photos that capture the uniqueness of you and your life as a couple. I am not, however, for engagement photos that make others blush. Straddling your significant other while rolling in the ocean? TMI!

I think you did the bike photo already (for a Christmas card, maybe?), but what about the two of you on tandem bike with a retro feel?

Or something at the archery field? It would be hard to show your faces (except possibly in profile?) but I think a shot of him guiding your aim could be sweet.

Walker gave me a piggie back ride and that turned out to be a super cute photo.

I am a fan of dresses.

The cashmere blend wrap Jcrew sells is a nice prop.

Parasols make a great prop

hi i've commented once and cannot help commenting again...

my sister is a wedding photographer and has done numerous engagement shoots. when she talks to her soon-to-be brides and grooms, it boils down to what kind of feel they want for this particular set of photos and the location chosen for the shoot. everything else tends to fall very neatly into place once you've decided what to wear and you're there, using all that the space has to offer you. have lots of fun! i like your suitcase idea!

Those photos are beautiful but some of the rolling around in the surf are just inappropriate to share with family and friends... tee hee.

I'd like to know where those couples display those photos!?
