Things I Love Today: BBC

One of our local PBS stations has recently gone all BBC, all the time. I'm loving catching up on old favorites and tuning in to new programs! Have you seen these?

Pride and Prejudice - Of course you've seen this! Who hasn't watched it at least 10 times, much to the chagrin of their boyfriends/fathers/husbands.
The Vicar of Dibley - I've only watched one episode but it was hilarious.
Doctor Who - The best of cheesy British sci-fi.
As Time Goes By - I love this show! Judi Dench is a comedic genius.
Secrets of the Sexes - Very interesting. All about how men and women are different, what factors are important in attraction.
Doc Martin - Another one I've only caught once but liked.

Great choices! I'm a bit (okay maybe a lot) obsessed with the BBC, especially their dramas. Have you seen Berkeley Square or Monarch of the Glen? If you'd like my list of faves, shoot me an email. P.S. Love your posts.

Um, I was watching Part 1 of P&P just last night. Again. :)

I love As Time Goes By! It probably ties with Good Neighbors for my favorite Britcom.

I love Fawlty Towers. John Cleese is a dry comic genius!

Ooh, I second Good Neighbors, Judi Dench is adorable in As Time Goes By and P&P is one of my faves as well (and drives my mr. crazy too!). But Doctor Who is my new obsession... David Tennant is so yummy and the writing is better than most American sci-fi. I liken it to the BBC versions of Narnia and Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy - get past the cheesy effects and Hollywood could never do it better. They spend the $$ on writers and actors instead of CGI and it shows. In a good way. Also if you keep an eye out you can often spot familiar British actors, including the main guy from As Time Goes By who plays Judi Dench's love interest.

I clearly have the best father in the world because he introduced me to the BBC pride and prejudice at the age of eight. then he let me rent all the videos whenever i wanted, and bought me the dvd for christmas last year. and yes, he loves watching it to.
