To Do: Pack for Hawaii

What a crazy week. I'm working like a maniac at huge conference for three days and then hopping on a plane for Hawaii on Thursday. Jean's bachelorette party is going to be a blast.

For the trip, I've picked up a couple new things and shopped my closet for a blue, white and coral color scheme. Here's what I'm taking to Maui:
  • Cotton tunic in peacock blue that can be dressed up or down.
  • New gauzy striped blouse from Club Monaco
  • Striped blue bikini from Boden
  • Straw hat borrowed from Rob
  • Pleated coral tank
  • Blousy blue and white top from Brooklyn Industries
  • White linen trousers
  • Pair of pencil-leg jeans
  • Rash guard (aqua-turtleneck!) to protect my skin during any water activities
  • White bikini
  • Peacock blue scarf, a San Francisco-girl never goes anywhere without a scarf
  • Maxi dress
  • Not shown: flip flops, fancy tank top, sneakers, nightgown, leggings, waterproof jacket, J.Crew jersey cardigan, grey t-shirt, books, sunblock, watercolors, camera
What am I missing?

Maybe a moisturizing treatment for your hair. If I'm swimming in a pool, my hair goes all frizzy and crazy. So on vacation I usually use it every day

If you're going to do any snorkling or surfing, make sure you have a waterproof camera.
And buy some Locals flip-flops while you're there!

Sunglasses, some sassy heels and I agree with Miss L....I'm a hairdresser and I remember your comments about your hair being fine and prone to frizziness so I would like to recommend a masque treatment from Kerastase. It's Masquintense for Fine hair in an orange and white jar. Before laying out at the pool or reading in bed, shampoo hair and then towel dry your hair really well. Apply masque to hair and comb through for even distribution. Wet a hand towel with warm to hot water and turban it up. Then put a dry hand towel over the wet one. Rinse out after 20 minutes. Enjoy Hawaii!!

Not sure what island you are going to, but since it's October, it may be a little cooler in the evening, just like the Bay. Bring something warm, like a hoodie or cardigan for night. Have fun and Aloha!

- A sarong, blousoun dress or coverup for the beach
- A packable tote or two for the beach
- Sneakers for any kind of light "hiking" or walking (Converse, Toms, etc.)
- Headphones for the plane!
- Liquid laundry detergent in a small bottle for your delicate swimsuit washing
- Board shorts for any surfing lessons if you're modest
- Aloe vera gel or some after sun treatment for any sunburns. There's a great one by Island Works that I swear by--you can probably pick it up while you're there. Good for insect bites, cuts, everything!

Aloha!

Am jealous of that coral peice hiding in your suitcase.
