What to Wear: Fall is Coming!

One of the great side effects of spending half a year traveling is that the seasons back at home feel like a total surprise. How can fall already be right around the corner?! It hit me suddenly when we had pumpkin-spice It's-It ice cream sandwiches on foggy Saturday night. Fall is my favorite season:

Skirt - A mustard midi skirt from Zara with a built in black belt and pockets.
Tee - A tan heather v-neck from Banana Republic.
Earrings - Lovely little smokey drop earrings from Anthropologie.
Booties - I love the three different colors of wood detail on the heel of these low suede booties. You could wear these with rolled up jeans, too.
Scarf - A black infinity scarf goes with everything.
Bag - A beautiful new Coach bag in eggplant.
Glasses - A pair of vintage-style men's reading glasses.

Fall is my favorite season too, especially in San Francisco! Any chance you're still taking what to wear requests? I have a crazy weekend coming up and I'm trying to strategize my packing... Already thinking I might need that scarf.

Man, blogger just ate my whole comment. We have relatives in town from Australia and we are taking them to see Paul McCartney at Candlestick on Thursday night (crazy, right? We're so excited!) Then we have to pack up and drive to Tahoe for a wedding on Friday. The wedding is apparently ON the beach and not too fancy but I figure what is a wedding if not an excuse to dress up? So I figure cold and crowded at the show followed by hot and sunny at the wedding and possibly cold again by the time the reception starts. And there are a good variety of shops down here so I figure I will be emergency shopping tomorrow and Wed. after work.

Sorry to leave such a novel in the comments and thanks so much!

In retrospect, that was probably way too short of notice for such a complicated question, but I would appreciate any tips/advice you have time to give.

Not too short! I'll probably have time to get to it tonight :)

I got the midi skirt but purchased it with my app. On hindsight I thought i should have used your link (not sure if you get credit), so thanks for the clothing tip. I don't know how to dress myself so will most likely copy your whole look.

Let me know if you like the skirt in person, Kristy! I'm considering buying one for myself. (and don't worry about the purchase, I get some commission for clicks, but not for sales)

I'm going to keep the skirt! It's a beautiful color-richer than how it appears online and kind of a polished cotton, lightweight though, unlined, will wrinkle like crazy and the flat panels in front will need to be ironed, the front can call attention to a belly unfortunately, will work with ballet flats, sandals, tall or short boots.
