There's a fantastic antique store a few blocks away from us in San Francisco. Stuff on Valencia Street always has great finds - as well as cake and hot coffee for shoppers. Rob and I stopped by on Sunday morning and I fell instantly in love with a framed architectural drawing.
I was so excited to carry it straight home with me to hang in the bedroom!
The story is that this drawing shows a design for San Francisco's flower market, drawn just a month before the 1906 earthquake wiped out the city. It especially poignant today when our beloved Flower Mart in SOMA has an uncertain future related a big tech development. It's one of my favorite places in the city and a resource for so many of my parties.
I haven't been able to find any details online about the architect, L.J. Schoefer yet. The pencil and ink drawings are accentuated with watercolors and so, so pretty. If only this was what the flower market looked like today! Plus, the black detailing is a great combination with the black ribbon on our bedside gourd lamps.
looks lovely! I like your taste in home décor, as well as fashion!
