Spring Forward

January was a rough month for me. And I began February making some big, hard life decisions. Choices that have been equal parts happy and terrifying. (There must be an obscure German word for that nauseous brave feeling)

With this much life happening, I needed to get grounded. I walked over to farmer's market Wednesday with my trusty French market bag, loaded up on the very earliest signs of spring - quince blossoms, leeks, late season citrus, lamb, goat cheese - spent the afternoon cooking and threw the first big dinner party of the year.

To me, there are few things more therapeutic than chopping, setting the table and stuffing good friends full of food until they nearly burst. The party went on far too late for a school night and ended with finishing a full-sized bottle of Australian port.

I'll have all the details of the party for you shortly. In the meantime, it's started to rain here in San Francisco and I'm feeling better.

  1. Missed you! Understand the nauseous brave feeling-- I'm wrapping up nursing school and am so far out of my comfort zone I don't even know where it is anymore. Forward!
